POWERFUL! Be proud!

As I listened to the narratives, I kept coming back to the thought: Thank God, the powers-that-be / the selection committee for the receiptents of the scholarships, understands how important diversity is! The tapestry of voices woven throughout this project create a rich fabric representational of the fact that all our voices, all of our stories deserve to be heard. All our truths, in their glaringly personal way, need to be shared. In hearing the tribulations of the people in this project, I find myself strengthed, my spirit renewed by the knowledge that the difficulties in our lives are what make us special. Or, perhaps, the way we choose to overcome the difficulties.

Thank you for sharing this powerful project with me! I plan on having my high school English classes listen and respond.

PS Aylie Baker, I have just the place you should visit! If you’re interested in visiting THE LAST HAIDA VILLAGE LEFT IN THE US who are beginning a grass roots movement to block a uranium mine on their tribal land, please contact me: daniellepeele@hotmail.com
(They could really use your help.)

I have been drawn back to the website featuring all these remarkable pieces to listen again. Each narrative has brought a catch of breath and some tears. Vivid portraits have been painted. Each person’s determination has been skillfully captured along with the sweetness of the human spirit. I loved these. The project was well conceived and thoughtfully executed. The music adds wonderful punctuation.
