Gift from Class of 2007 supports environmental efforts at College: MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — The members of the Middlebury College Class of 2007, who graduated on Sunday, May 27, have decided to call their senior class gift the Green Fund. Money from the Green Fund will support the College’s environmental projects, including sustainable campus initiatives, such as energy efficiency and alternative energy measures that will move the College closer to its goal of carbon neutrality.

Bill Clinton tells Class of 2007 to remember importance of community: “Former President Bill Clinton reminded the Middlebury College Class of 2007 about the importance of community in his commencement address on Sunday, May 27. Clinton, who received an honorary doctorate of humane letters, spoke to the more than 600 graduates and an audience of thousands that filled the quad in front of Voter and Munroe Halls.”

Burlington Free Press: Saving Snakes with Middlebury’s Jim Andrews: WEST HAVEN — Jim Andrews gathered his class of a dozen Vermont highway workers at the edge of a reptile-rich hayfield Wednesday and delivered his one-minute lesson in how to catch a snake: “Grab first, think later,” the Middlebury College snake researcher said.His audience laughed nervously. They had come to learn about wildlife habitat and to better understand that the way Vermont builds and maintains its roads can mean life or death for salamanders and skinks, snakes and snapping turtles.

From WCAX: Middlebury prepares for commencement, and Clinton: “Grounds crews at Middlebury College are taking their final measurements, preparing for the tents and chairs that will house the largest-ever crowd expected for a Middlebury graduation. Secretary of the College John Emerson says, ‘I would say 2,500 more people than we’ve accommodated at past commencements.’

“That could mean up to 7,500 people total. They’re coming to see their family and friends graduate from the liberal arts college. They will also see former president Bill Clinton, who’s delivering the commencement address.”

There is something so final about funerals that emptiness itself seems the only place to occupy. Women’s Lacrosse Drops NCAA Semi To Salisbury: “Middlebury saw its season come to an end with a hard-fought 8-7 loss to Salisbury in an NCAA semifinal contest played at William Smith College. The Panthers were making their 14th consecutive trip to the semifinals and end their season at 16-2.”

Former President Clinton to deliver Middlebury College commencement address May 27: “Former President of the United States Bill Clinton will deliver the commencement address at the Middlebury College graduation ceremony on May 27. President Clinton will also receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree. Robert De Cormier, Janet Hanson, James Gustave Speth, Marc A. and Dana Lim vanderHeyden, and Dr. Huda Y. Zoghbi will receive honorary degrees as well.”

Men’s Tennis Ends Season With A Win: “The men’s tennis team ended its season on a good note with a 5-1 win over Gustavus Adolphus (29-9) in the NCAA consolation match. The Panthers finish their season with an impressive 22-2 record, tying the school record for wins.”
