Endings and Beginnings

May 17th, 2006 by Mary Ellen Bertolini

Thanks to all of you for a job well done this year!
24169739_aa00c83275_s.jpg Congratulations to our graduating seniors!
We will be entertaining our graduating seniors (and our almost-graduating Feb seniors) at a lovely lunch in CTLR Wednesday during senior week at noon. Update: See pictures from this event here.

I met Monday with many of next year’s FYSE instructors, and I’ve begun placing Peer Writing Tutors in next year’s classes. Next week, I’ll start e-mailng you your assignments. If you never filled out the Future Plans form and you want a class next year, you can still download the form and e-mail it to me.

Tomorrow, I’m off to Bates College to discuss our Peer Writing Turor Program here at Middlebury, but I’ll be back in my office next week if you want to come by and say goodbye for the summer.

Tutoring in Writing for Middlebury College Students

May 1st, 2006 by Mary Ellen Bertolini

The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Research (Library Suite 225) provides all Middlebury College students with assistance in writing. Staff and peer writing tutors can help students in every phase of the writing process–from getting started on a topic to polishing a final draft. Appointments with staff and peer writing tutors are free for all Middlebury College students.
PEER WRITING TUTORS
Starting the second week of the semester, peer writing tutors are available in CTLR (Lib 225) Sunday through Thursday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to midnight (except during school vacations). This is a drop-in service–no appointment is necessary. Many first-year seminars and college writing classes, also, have peer writing tutors assigned to work with them. Peer Writing Tutors are trained to give authorized help in writing.
STAFF WRITING TUTORS
Starting the first week of the semester, on weekdays, students may make appointments with staff writing tutors: Mary Ellen Bertolini and Catharine Wright. To schedule an individual appointment time with one of these tutors, students can drop by the CTLR (Lib 225) and sign up for an appointment or call x3131. Some students schedule regular weekly appointments with staff writing tutors. Others come as needed.
